Financial Controller

Our client has been established in 2013 and is an impact advisory and investment firm, active
in shaping innovative business solutions in impact sectors that combine demonstrable social and
environmental impact with adequate financial return. They offer high quality strategic advisory services and hands-on support to its clients to enable these to generate measurable impact with business models that target the lower-income segment of the population. They are active in several sectors as financial inclusion, clean energy, clean water, lowincome housing, sustainable agriculture and the sustainable apparel industry.
All the current and future (co) managed funds have a focus on sustainable investments in
developing countries and emerging markets and contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable
Development Goals. The company is currently (co) manager of three innovative debt impact investment
initiatives which all have a blended finance structure, i.e. a mixture of investors with different risk
appetites as well as financial and impact requirements

Role and Activities
The Financial Controller (?FC?) role is a new role to support the company in further development,
standardization and professionalization in terms of finance, administration, compliance and risk
management for the company and related funds. The FC will be actively involved in planning, reporting, budgeting and analysis as well as payment and dedicated admin operations. As the company  has outsourced the vast majority of administration and financial reporting tasks, the FC is expected to play an active support and supervision role in proper execution as well as identification and implementation of efficiencies and prudent operations. The FC will work closely with the Business Controller and other members of the team

This an exciting new role for a professional with 3 to 5 years experience to gain or develop experience in the impact investment sector, in a growing, diversified and impact-focused team.

Day to day
? Support the financial planning and analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and internal financial
control of the company and funds under management
? Be the liaison for the external administrator and verify their work to ensure the financial
administration is accurate and complete
? Be the linking pin between the investment team, management and external
administrators/auditors on all financial matters
? Maintain the administration for non-standard items and transactions, in coordination with the
external administrator
? Prepare management and investor reports, including performance, risk and compliance
? Coordinate regulatory reporting, including AIFMD and/or SFDR
? Support the budget and forecasting process for the company and funds and monitor performance
against budget
? Process accounts payable and receivable, and maintain a controlled internal administration
? Recommend improvements in internal procedures
? Back-up/support the Business Controller on compliance, governance and operational matters

? Team player with a constructively critical mindset, who dares to speak up
? Accurate, analytical and structured way of working
? Flexible and pragmatic, able to find solutions
? Good understanding of financial products, such as structured loans, private equity,
investment funds
? Experienced user of financial reporting formats and Microsoft Excel
? At least 3 years relevant experience at/with financial institutions
? Bachelor or Masters degree in accounting, finance or economics
? Fluent in English
? You will report to one of the Partners and regularly liaise with the external Finance, Risk
& Compliance Advisor
